This week Jessica and Corbin hosted Eva and Addi for a trial week in the Seedling & Sapling pod. We got back into our Chakra lessons, as Jessica introduced the students to their sacral energy. This energy supports our ability to create and be creative. Most students completed their Mythical Creatures this week, along with their posters for their presentations. The class got to learn about each other’s creatures through each presentation and we placed photos on our map of Cana

During our short week, students continued on their Mythical Creature creation adventures! Some moved on to creating their introduction poster for their creature. Our Earth Magic wall in the classroom now holds a map of Canada: outlining the provinces. Through discussion and exploration in books, the Sprouts are beginning to learn about each province and choosing which would be the best environment for their Mythical Creature to live in. With talks about me moving to Alberta,

This week the Sprouts learned how to ground their energy with Jessica and began exploring the ‘sway test’. This is a self-testing technique that provides “yes” or “no” answers through the body’s subconscious/intuition. We incorporated this new tool through out the week to do body checks and even pick crystals for meditation. Ask your child to show you how it works! Our continued project focus is: Mythical Creatures. Students are finishing up their physical creations and next

Thursday Today we began with our morning circle inside, moving our energy and feeling our energy ball creations. Our card choices were on point as always. Meditation time had students seeing very specific colours that had lots of accuracy for them that I shared that connected to the Core lesson on our energy this week. After circle we had a snack and chatted rather than reading a story. Free play ensued afterward for a short period of time before we got outside for a 2.5 h

We began our week with a beautiful Spring Equinox ceremony led by Jessica. Leroy birthed his drum and we called in the new season with song. In the Sprout room; we read a story highlighting the winter to spring transition and signs of spring to come. The students sorted photos of the two seasons within a Venn diagram that gave space for signs of transition as well. Our first Chakra Lesson of the season also started on Monday. Jessica led the students through the exploration o

Thursday We began with snacks today as everyone was hungry this morning! Once we arrived to circle Gordie volunteered to lead our morning routine. This wasn't something we talked about, however, since he turned 5 over the weekend he felt particularly proud of what he could do 🔥 and we rolled with it! He did a fantastic job leading the group. After circle we had more snack while we read from Animal Riddles. Everyone loved the sneaky riddles that got us all thinking! Free

Thursday Our morning circle was smooth and the children lead the way. There were many great animal messages. This week we began learning about first aid which started with knowing some basics about the human body. We learned today that we have bones that give us form, a digestive system that connects our mouth to our anus (though many called it a butt hole lol) and a brain that helps us think and learn. We started reading The Body Book and will continue into next week as w

This week started with a wonderful pottery class from the ladies at Pottery Studio London. Our students got to move through the steps of creating a plate or bowl. This week we began learning about Mythical Creatures - as per the Sprouts’ latest request. They have been engaging in lots of imaginative pay with their dragon toys lately and also mentioned their excitement for the backyard fairies to return in the Spring. Some wanted to learn about other mythical creatures such as mermaids, unicorns, Sasquatch and more. We dove in with some read-alouds this week, accompanied by a vocabulary activity, card game, and new bingo throughout our

Thursday After our morning circle we read The Little Goose That Could and were introduced to the idea that animals have families. After out story we have some free time working with number blocks, reading new animal books and lots of creative play. There was not enough sap today to collect, so we left it for tomorrow. The Squirrels were getting a drink from the dripping sap! Our creation activity began with learning that all beings on Mother Earth are made up of the same st

This week our Core Program observed that our backyard maples were being tapped! This process was started by the Outdoor Program last Thursday. Due to the freeze, not much sap was collected this week however, students got to review the process through the creation of a timeline and books shared throughout the week. They learned how to identify a Sugar Maple in the winter by bark and branch pattern. We recorded the amount of sap collected on a chart throughout the week. During

We had a wonderful, short week! 💞 On Tuesday, the class worked together to bake a chocolate cake for our Spirit Day. They loved adding the naturally coloured sprinkles on top. We also did some white crayon & watercolour paintings and created mailbags for valentine exchange. As the snow has begun to melt, we read a story about the water cycle and followed a snowflake on its journey; melting, evaporating, and freezing. On our Tuesday Trek we discussed how many water droplets a

Thursday We began in circle today moving our energy, calling in new energy and activating our intuition with our hand claps. After we hand clap, we rub our hands together and separate them to see if we can feel the size of our energy each day. Lots of big energy was showing up today. Everyone had insightful sit spots and we changed ohm together to end our morning circle. During snack we heard "Tree Hole Homes - Daytime Dens and Nighttime Nooks" to begin our focus on anima

We had a small group this week so our Wet Felting lesson was rescheduled. I will share the new date soon. Students focused on finishing up some projects, working on Valentines for families, and creating bird/squirrel feeders throughout our mornings. On Tuesday, we read an inspiring story called “Ten Ways to Hear Snow,” which got the Sprouts thinking of ways they hear snow, themselves. On our Tuesday trek they listed off 10 additions ways we could hear the snow on our way. We

Thursday This day began with movement through our tools in circle, an informative meditation time and beautiful song ❤ Today we read Winter Walk, and though most students heard it yesterday, it was a loved story all the same. Our learning today was about garden planning, continuing from last week. All plants students wanted to plant in the garden were written on cards, that we worked together to sound out and read together, then chose where they would go. We began with what

This week the teaching of ‘Courage’ was introduced. We discussed what it meant to be courageous and brave and the importance of letting our intuition guide us. Students shared examples of when they have felt brave and found a handful of examples in our story on Wednesday. The Sprouts have been loving the “small hill” beside the gate, where they’ve chosen to play most recesses. We got our binoculars out and kept a look out for new bird friends, both from the coat room and when outside. The students have yet to see any, but heard many bird calls.
