Sapling Core October 20-22
We started our week off learning about Love, the fifth tipi pile teaching. We learned that the Eagle represent Love and that Love is one of the overlapping teachings between our Tipi Pole teachings and the Seven Sacred Grandfather Teachings. On Wednesday morning we read "Murmel, murmel, murmel" by Robert Munsch. Students identified where love was and wasn't. Our conversation touched on the concept of unconditional love AND holding strong boundaries (saying no) as a loving

We got started outside on this crispy morning, had a beautiful morning circle with lots of energy clearing and beautiful song. Our sit spots are routine now and our animal messages were spot on! After circle we read "The Grateful Book" while we enjoyed our snacks in the sunshine. We connected many details from the story to our feast yesterday and our day to come. Student reflections were amazing to hear and there lots! Corbin led the way for our foraging hike this morning.

Our short week consisted of a lot of gratitude, and food! We started Tuesday with a review of what was learned on our trip to Kustermans. Students completed a journal entry sharing their learning. Many noted pieces of the pumpkin life cycle while other spoke about pumpkin parts and their function. We made time to practice our short a and i sounds with a favourite game: boom clap. We recalled the meaning of gratitude on Wednesday with a story I read each year on feast day: Bea

Saplings Core October 14&15
No new teaching this week with our second short week in a row. We will resume with our Number 5 lesson next week. Our day began with our morning routine. Students were engaged and earned many pun stickers and completed their tasks within the hour. Our writing/typing this morning was a prompt for recount writing from our trip and about our feast. We began discussing reasons for our writing and how to share an idea with examples and/or items relevant to the topic. Once we w
