This week we introduced the teaching of Sharing. Our statement is "we share the load and the bounty" and the lesson is about understanding that when we all pitch in to help, we are making the work less for everyone. We read the story of "The Little Red Hen" Wednesday and students discovered many of our core teachings in the story.
Monday was a Corbin only day, so after his morning activities were complete we went home for the rest of the day.
Tuesday and Wednesday were full of creation, as there are now only 5 more school days until we have our sale! It's coming fast!
Morning exercises each day included counting a tin of money, passing it to another and recounting to check for accuracy. This mirrors what we do after our sale. We focused on strategies to ensure we are counting accurately, like listing all the bills and coins rather than only counting up.
After morning exercises each day we were busy making bracelets, packing seed bags from our garden, and discussing what else we want to create for the sale.
We also started working on some advertising as well. This week had my fingers full and writing on many seed packets, so there aren't many pictures.
One of our ideas was to have a 4 draws for special stockings that are full of products from students businesses. We also kept track this week in charts in our workbooks of the products we created ourselves and determined how much we would make from those sales (20-25%) to determine if we had made enough product to make our personal financial goals possible.
We ate up all of our cookies two weeks ago, so this week we had no cookies at the end of the day...and this change was received well.
