To expand our learning around backyard birds, students thought it would be fun to create birdhouses. They planted this “seed” (idea) last week, and got to water that idea this week. Working in groups, 3 bird houses were made for our backyard. Students practiced following instructions, using tools, applying math skills, and supporting each other through teamwork. Lots of problem solving was done! We will find spots for the remaining houses on Monday and begin birdwatching.
During our Project Period the students also engaged in exploration of bird tracks, sizes and colour patterns. The Sprouts are learning how to draw a simple bird in their portfolios and label its anatomy.
Other learning activities this week included: numeracy expansion using a number line, musical movement with scarves, and lots of imaginative play during open centre time.
Today was Spirit Day! We had some fun costumes come in and played board games.
It will be Mila’s turn for Mystery Bag on Monday.
