Outdoor December 18th

We began our morning in circle with our rhythm sticks AND jingle bells for our Seven Directions song today! Our animal messengers were on point and reminding us about what is important for each of us.

After circle we read "Fletcher and the Snowflake Christmas" which everyone loved!

After story time we started playing some games. Today our focus was Uno and Dice Game. Both games assist with numeracy and our 1:1 counting, PLUS for those who are ready, subitizing! Winners of the games were tallied on our board to win the Polar Bear Family Set left over from Share the Magic day!!

After a couple games, everyone wanted to paint, so they worked hard with multiple layers and water colours and created some beautiful abstract pieces! After painting everyone had a long play with the partially renovated doll house while I created a little Santa hat for Harlow, and shared my steps with the interested students as they took breaks from their play. We also got into pairs to play the rope game....which was a little too advanced for us...and we tried our best anyways!

After lunch everyone chose a North American animal mask and began role playing. There was certainly LOTS of laughter today ❤

After our playtime we gathered up our bird seed and trekked out to put seeds in places we thought our bird and animal friends might need them most. Rich discussion around animal classification and food webs happened while we sorted out the details as well. At the park we found many places where we could put seeds for our animal friends ❤

We also found tunnels under the snow where the small animals travel so they don't get eaten by hungry birds!

AND we noticed the buds on the trees are all very big and getting ready for Spring...already!!

We played at the park with the walkie talkies and slid down the slides before heading back to play more games and see who wins the prize today!

We were able to fit in another game of Uno and Dice Game!!
