Outdoor Oct 30

Despite a temperature of 8 degrees this morning, it was also very windy and there were so many clouds we could not see the sun. We enjoyed our morning circle outside, and noticed that during our sit spots we became chilly despite our extra layers. Movement warmed us up, then we had our morning snack and stories outside while we could. The forecast for today said rain, given the temperature we decided together that staying out in the rain would not support us to keep warm today.

After our stories we went directly to the big park to play until the rain began. We all noticed it felt even colder there. Once the rain started, we headed back to the school.

Back inside, students got busy learning about food chains, food webs, and life cycles with our manipulative and some imaginative play. We learned about sources of energy, producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, tertiary consumers and decomposers.

After lunch we pulled out our animal masks and tickle trunk and became a great many animals. Lots of conversation around animal names, characteristics and habitats went on. Some of the masks matched our animal cards from the morning too. Afterwards, we did some beading and made bracelets together. At end of day we put our pumpkins out in the back yard for the animals to enjoy for Halloween!

Have a happy haunting day tomorrow everyone!
