We started our short week with reading “The World’s Best Class Plant”. It is about a class who thought a class plant wasn’t as fun as a class pet but quickly learned how cool plants are. The plant in the book is a spider plant which has plant “babies”. At the end of the year each student in that class took home one of the babies. Throughout our year the Sprouts have learned that our largest class plant - the pothos - can grow roots from its nodes, and create a new plants. We will be propagating pieces of the pothos over the next couple of weeks for each Sprout to take home at the end of June. We also named all 3 of our class plants. Students made suggestions, voted, and designed name tags.
Students spent time working on their financial literacy and making products for our upcoming sale.
We ventured over to the creek for our Tuesday Trek where we made a duck friend! Students sat still as they called him over with their duck calls.
On our recess walk to the park today, we noticed many broken branches from the storm including a large box elder that was blocking the path. We observed from a distance, spoke about safety in terms of getting close to a broken tree, and sent loving energy the tree’s way. We also discussed what uses there are for broken branches and how fallen trees still have many purposes as well.
Jude finished up his Earth Badge requirements this week.
It will be Mila’s turn for mystery bag on Monday.
*We are still finalizing details for our trip on Wednesday. I will post an update as soon as I receive the information I’m waiting on. Thanks for your patience!
