Sprouts: Mar 23-25 (Core)

We began our week with a beautiful Spring Equinox ceremony led by Jessica. Leroy birthed his drum and we called in the new season with song. In the Sprout room; we read a story highlighting the winter to spring transition and signs of spring to come. The students sorted photos of the two seasons within a Venn diagram that gave space for signs of transition as well.

Our first Chakra Lesson of the season also started on Monday. Jessica led the students through the exploration of their own energy “radius”. She also reviewed the meaning of the word “chakra” and the colours associated. The students had a blast!

To prepare for our Spirit Day on Wednesday, we baked cookies on Tuesday. We also began our Mythical Creature creations. Students started with a sketch of their idea, naming their creature and choosing materials for each part. They then started putting it all together on Wednesday. Students are so excited to continue this project! They will have the opportunity to use this as their Creation Badge project if they choose.

We got out on two treks this week, watched a magic show put on by Leroy, and celebrated mine and Mila’s birthdays!

On Monday afternoon I shared my news with the Sprouts around not returning in September. My intention was to ensure all students found out at the same time and to hold space for feelings and lots of questions as the year continues. We already had a handful of helpful conversations and have chosen to take more group photos to create special memories. 🥰
