Sprouts: Jun 8-10 (Core)

This week was jam packed with excitement! We started off by counting earnings from Share the Magic Day. We took a look at our inventory sheets to see what had sold out and what remained. The Sprouts used their counting strategies to find a total. They made $209!! Thank you for all of your support.

Before dividing up the earnings, we discussed our year end feast and figured out what we will be eating. This was an important step that informed us how much money we would need to buy the ingredients necessary. Students decided to choose deserts that we already had in the kitchen, to put some extra money back in their pockets. Some great critical thinking happening! Once those decisions were made we divided up the earnings. Students each earned between $35-$46 depending on their overall involvement in making and selling.

For the feast they decided on tacos with sides of rainbow salad and garlic bread. For dessert: freezies and cookies.

We made space to work on Memory Books and Father’s Day gifts this week as well. Students also explored the anatomy of a bee and learned about the life cycle of a praying mantis (this was on their list of things to learn about this year). We planned our Badge Ceremony and started creating a TSOP collage of drawings as our sign-in activity for the rest of the month.

Today we all enjoyed a beautiful day at Camp Kee-Mo-Kee! The staff organized a full day of exploration, learning, play and adventure. Students worked together to build a shelter, tried out the climbing wall, explored a cabin, had a super fun orienteering adventure, met a wizard, sky gazed AND played multiple group games! Our day ended with some students exploring the creek and others trying archery. It was a blast!
