Sprouts: Apr 7-8 (Core)

During our short week, students continued on their Mythical Creature creation adventures! Some moved on to creating their introduction poster for their creature. Our Earth Magic wall in the classroom now holds a map of Canada: outlining the provinces. Through discussion and exploration in books, the Sprouts are beginning to learn about each province and choosing which would be the best environment for their Mythical Creature to live in. With talks about me moving to Alberta, one of the main questions was “where is that?”. I thought this would be a great way to incorporate that learning into our current project.

Aside from this project, students continue to explore number sense at their own pace. The number line has been a helpful tool in addition, subtraction and even multiplication for some students. Portfolios have been utilized to review some of our teachings over the last few weeks as a few of our tipi pole teachings overlap our 7 sacred grandfather teachings. Students have been illustrating examples of Respect, Love, Humility and Courage. Examples have been shared and discussed during morning circle as well. Next week we will move into a new teaching for this year.

Jude presented a piece of badge work he had been working on, about the moray eel. Our trek happened on Wednesday this week where we soaked up the sunshine.

It’ll be Jude’s turn for Mystery Bag on Monday.
