Outdoor June 4&5

We started off our Thursday with an outdoor circle and free play, followed by a story that inspired us to make lemon custard next week! After story we watered the garden and every student identified 4 plants in and around the garden.

We counted our earnings from share the magic day and paid the students who supported making the items that sold. Everyone went home with an envelope with some money in it, and Lola's was put in her cubby.

After counting we went out for a hike to the secret strawberry patch to see if there were any ripe berries. There were! Everyone hunted for the red berries, discussing why we don't eat the ones that aren't ready yet. After picking, we each had 11 yummy berries each ❤. After the berry patch we played at the park until near home time, then returned to the backyard to play until parents came.

On Thursday, Gordie played in the morning and we held our circle outside. We talked about the differences between reptiles and amphibians promoted by our animal cards.

After circle we read Adrift, a book about community and feeling connected to others in the world. After our story we watered the garden and then planted our pie pumpkin seeds and goose neck squash seeds that Pam brought for us on share the magic day.

After watering and planting we checked out the microscope to see some bugs and fabrics up close. After, we went to the park and Gordie made a new friend named Findley. They played for over two hours all over the playground with lots of laughter and singing.

Back at school we had our lunch, and baked chocolate chip cookies to eat at the end of the day, then played in the backyard until home time.

***sorry I didn't include many photos...I wasn't sure if the app would work.
