Thursday we welcomed Ellanora and Jude, our trial students to our outdoor program! We had a blast free playing before circle, then enjoyed a really large morning circle together complete with energy balls, intuition, movement, meditation and singing. After circle we read The Wild while we snacked then made a plan for our day. The story inspired students to want to hug the trees and say hello to all the flowers we could find.
On our hike (which lasted most of the day), we identified Lilly of the Valley, Mullein, Dandelion, Marshmallow, Grape Hyacinth, Cattails/Bullrush, and Colts Foot. The kids hugged Linden, Oak and Willow tree trunks together too. They had fun climbing the Spruce tree and we got to look at a Spruce Berry! We also ate some Violet flowers because there are still lots around! We stopped at the secret wild strawberry patch and noticed that the strawberry flowers were up, which means strawberries in a month! We also said hello to the Mallards that live in Pottersburg Creek, utilized the spotting scope (monocular) and binoculars to see things far away AND we played the whistle game...which is my way of calling the students back to me fast. They all loved it!
We returned to the school for a late lunch and our sharing board followed by free play in the backyard.

Friday
We had a smaller group today and enjoyed our morning circle experience.

At snack time we read A Seed Is Sleepy. This inspired us to find seeds in the backyard that were in various stages of growth. After a full day of games, outdoor play (it was windy-chilly today), attempting to light a fire (not today folks), dancing like wild Loons and checking out our worm farm to say hello to our worm friends, we called it a day and said goodbye to our new friends.
We did not end with a sharing board today...we played in the backyard until pick up time instead ❤
