Thursday
Our first day starting outside was a great success! It was so wonderful to sing our song and honour the directions. The Wind came to visit us while we sang which helps make everything magical for everyone.
Today we read two stories to get us acquainted with spring blossoms (we are searching for them on our hike today) and gardens.

After some play time we raked all the leftover leaves from the nooks and crannies, cleaned up our outdoor kitchen and planted some flowers where the kitchen used to be. We also put a lot of sand back in the sandbox. We found many plump worms and bugs in our clean up time. Everyone worked in teams to rake and we measured our piles with our rake to compare to see who made the biggest pile. Corbin won!
After more free play and lunch we went out to explore the world looking for spring blossoms up high and down low.
On our return we enjoyed our sharing board time and ended our hot day with freezes 🔥

Friday

Today started with our dice game inside, then morning circle outside. Our sit spot was cozy in the sunshine and we both pulled cat animal cards!

At snack time we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Millicent and the Wind, as it is a windy day.
After snack, we pulled out our shovels, garlic scapes, sprouted garlic bulbs and our sprouted potatoes. We took them out to the garden, turned over the potato patch (and found two potatoes from last year!), then planted 12 potatoes with big eyes. We learned how to plant garlic cloves so we will have garlic this fall, and planted 20+ garlic scapes so we will not need to plant garlic next year 🙏. We noticed our onions look very happy and we replaced a couple posts as well. We notice mushrooms growing on one of our posts, so left it where it was. This is great news for a garden to have mushrooms growing in it.
After our lunch, we watered our potatoes and garlic, sprinkled wild flower seeds against the edges of the school, then headed out to climb trees, smell flowers and play at the playground. Gordie made three friends today names Charles, Harrison and Ivy at the park that he played with. We came back for our sharing board and played until the end of the day.
